Gingerbread Success!

The elephant has removed itself from my chest… finally. All that remains of my battle with bronchitis is an overwhelming tiredness that seems to hold on tightly no matter how much sleep I get. I have a sneaking suspicion that it would not be so apt to linger if I were not spread so thin at the moment. Something about one’s spouse being away, full time college, responsibility for providing children with enriching educational experiences, and general full time house wifery duties leaves one a bit fatigued. Go figure. Perhaps this is a gentle reminder from the Universe that I actually cannot be Super Mom, if that ever were part of my daily delusions. ;)

In light of not leaving the house, because it’s cold outside people! We have turned to Bodhi day and Christmas Crafts. Also filling our house is constant live stream of Christmas music. We are simply addicted to a British station out of London. I love how the internet brings everyone and everything closer together. I had planned to post pictures of our Bodhi day lapbooks, but that will have to wait until tomorrow because today our interests we piqued with a gingerbread house that my mom left behind last week.

How is it that she knew that I was gingerbread house impaired? There have been several extremely terrible encounters with this said Christmas tradition (the latest run in being last year). All I will say is that cardboard does not make an acceptable substitute for gingerbread (structurally speaking not from a consumption standpoint…ew…really people). Furthermore, icing and cardboard make a terrible couple, heinous actually, if I am completely honest. Yet, here with a kit and the hardest parts done a la machine, assembly was actually quite fun.

Check out the roofing detail. Oh yeah, just call me the icing goddess.

Ta Da! Masterpiece complete. Who doesn’t want a mint stepping stone walkway?

All and all I highly recommend the gingerbread house kit should you suffer from construction impotence. ;) Tomorrow, Bodhi day lapbooks and alter decorating. Everyone is so excited; the season of giving is in the air.

  2. Sheri,
What a cute gingerbread house. Glad you are able to breath again! That is always a bonus when we can complete a cleansing breath without passing out! Luv you!
Dustin says the gingerbread house looks awesome and to tell Ronin hello. Okay, Tyler says hello as well.
