Mr. Hoppy
Summer has come…finally. Each day filled with warm sunshine on our skin and cool glasses of limeade in our hands. There is running. Feet pounding the pavement, the kiddos wiping sweat from their brows and the delicious smell of accomplishment that they feel upon reaching a goal. There is sawdust in the air and the smell of wood glue drying between the cracks of a homemade doll bed. There is the smile of a young woman after she hammers and then uses a powered drill for the first time. There is a toad from the garden, olive green and speckled all over. Gleeful shouting and habitat building, what do they eat? What do they need to survive mom! There are Ronin’s squealing shouts as he finds the courage to pick up the toad only to have it pee on his hands. He giggles and trots off to find the soap and water. There is lavender blooming and chocolate mint encircling us, than we could ever hope to consume. Perhaps dry it for tea? Well maybe… Then again, maybe we’ll just enjoy the lovely scents until they leave us again in the fall. There are books to read and projects to complete but they can wait until another day. Today is…well just right. We are growing simply and naturally.
